May, 2 “ERNIE” A play by Mitch Albom.

    

Ernie – A Play by Mitch Albom

“Ernie,” Mitch Albom’s much-anticipated new play dedicated to Ernie Harwell, makes its world premiere this spring at the City Theatre in Detroit, one block from Comerica Park and just in time for fans to visit with the “Voice of Summer” once again.

“Ernie” is set on Ernie Harwell’s last night at Comerica, when the Hall of Fame broadcaster is about to give a moving thank you to a grateful city. Just before he walks onto the grassy field, he encounters an unusual boy who is eager to know all about him, coaxing Harwell into giving one final broadcast - the “broadcast of his life.”

The play will feature actual footage from historic baseball moments, supplied courtesy of Major League Baseball, and will boast many unmistakable Harwell calls. Tiger fans will get a glimpse of the time that Ernie met the Great Bambino and Ty Cobb. They’ll witness how he ’recreated” games in his early days, and what was behind his broadcasts of the Tigers’ 1968 and 1984 World Series.

Monday, June 11   
Our travels today will take us to beautiful Stockbridge, MA to visit the “Norman Rockwell Museum” America’s favorite illustrator. Rockwell’s studio is filled with his furnishings, mementos, easel, paints and brushes on the lovely grounds overlooking the Berkshire Hills. Our overnight lodging will be in Great Barrington, MA. With lunch at the historic Red Lion Inn in the quaint village of Stockbridge, dating back to 1773.

            

Tuesday, June 12   
We are off to Maine to visit Kennebunkport and drive past the Bush Estate at Walkers Point  along with a visit to Nubble Light. Time in Dock Square for shopping and lunch at one of the many great restaurants. Lobster Roll anyone, or maybe the famous wild blueberry pie. After time to enjoy Dock Square we will head to Portland ME for our one night stay.

             

Wednesday, June 13   
Today we will begin with a tour of Portland, ME  Maine’s largest city, situated on Casco Bay at the beginning of the “Rocky Coast of Maine” see the Wadsworth Longfellow House where he grew up, the busy waterfront and the Casco Bay Islands. A stop at the Portland Head light house the oldest lighthouse in Maine. This is a great picture stop.

Free time for lunch and shopping in Portland’s renovated Old Port District with boutiques, galleries, and restaurants that occupy former warehouses.

        

Thursday, June 14   
Today we begin with a visit to the Camden Hills State Park. Drive to the peak of Mount Battie for sweeping views of Camden village and harbor, and Penobscot Bay and surrounding Islands.
If you have ever dreamed of going on a schooner ride, then your dream has come true. Step aboard the schooner Appledore for a two Hour cruise through Camden Harbor and into Penobscot Bay. Enjoy views of lighthouses, wildlife, islands and the beautiful Maine Coastline. 

Our next stop will be in Rockland, ME to see the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum, where you will see more than 100 mint condition classic and antique airplanes, bicycles, carriages and engines. Depart for Bar Harbor, ME to check into our night lodging the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel a contemporary hotel designed to resemble the Rodick House, one of Bar Harbor’s original grand hotels from the 1800′s. Your hotel is convenient to the shops and restaurants in downtown.

           

Wednesday, June 15   
Depart on a two hour cruise of Frenchman Bay. Enjoy the coastal Maine scenery as you cruise past waterfront mansions and Acadia National Park. A naturalist will narrate as we search for local wildlife including seals, harbor porpoises, osprey and eagles. Free time for lunch and shopping in Bar Harbor. After lunch we will have a tour of Acadia National Park, tour along Park Loop Drive, see Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs and continue to the Summit of Cadillac Mountain for spectacular views.
Tonight we will have a traditional Maine Lobster bake with the lobster, potato, and corn-on-the-cob expertly steamed together in a large steel cooker where you can take pictures. There will be alternate menu selections.

      

Thursday, June 16   
Depart for Freeport, ME with free time to visit the home of LL Bean and factory outlet shops. Now onto Framingham, MA for our overnights lodging. Tonight we will have the fortune of taking in a live performance of the “Boston Pops Orchestra in downtown Boston.

     

Friday, June 17   
Today we will depart for Corning, NY for a one night stay.

          

Saturday, June 18
Today we will visit the Corning Glass Museum, it is outstanding with a exhibits, hands on glass blowing, and a market place for all those nice Corning products. Arrival home this evening with fond memories and new found friends.

CANCELLATION/REFUNDS:  A full refund less $50.00 per person administrative fee and the cost of any tickets, admissions, ect. Purchased on the clients behalf will be made for cancellations received in our office in writing up to 45 days prior to the trip departure date. Cancellations received less than 45 days a the above mentioned will apply plus a charge full your unsold coach seat. If a replacement is found you will receive a full refund minus the $25 administration fee. Depart for a day of touring the Lakes Region. Our guide “White Mountain Mikey” will be joining us for two days of fun filled narration and stories. Today we will be touring the magnificent White Mountains region and travel the Kancamagus Highway, a most scenic route. All aboard the Conway Scenic Notch Train for a two hour ride to Crawford Notch, along steep ravines, panoramic mountain vistas and across the famed Frankenstein trestle and Willey Brook Bridge.
 

 A lunch buffet is included at the spectacular Mount Washington Hotel, a National Historic Landmark. We will have a tour of the property that has hosted Winston Churchill, Babe Ruth and U.S. Presidents!

Depart for a day of touring the magnificent White Mountains Region.

  Time to cruise! The M.S. Mt. Washington awaits our arrival for a scenic one way cruise across New Hampshire’s largest lake to the charming lakeside resort town of Wolfeboro with time for shopping and lunch.

Now on to Moultonborough NH. For our tour of the “Castle in the Clouds” an outstanding mansion overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee, featuring hand craftsmanship and technological innovations.

Depart for Canterbury New Hampshire. The Canterbury Shaker Village, a historic Shaker community founded in 1792. Your guided tour will take you through the serene grounds, view the 23 buildings that served skilled craftsman.

 We will depart for North Woodstock and begin boarding the Café Lafayette Dinner Train for a scenic 20-mile, 2-hour trip through the heart of the White Mountains. We will relish freshly prepared entrees, elegant surroundings, and beautifully restored Pullman dining cars, all in the Grand European manner.

Depart for Rhinebeck New York.

 Time in the charming town of Rhinebeck NY for shopping and lunch. We will visit the FDR Presidential home and Library and Museum, the first in the Country and the only one used by a sitting president. The library is the world’s premier research center for the study of the Roosevelt era. In the Library’s Museum you can explore exhibits about the lives of the Roosevelt’s, the Great Depression, the New Deal and World War II.

Dinner this evening will have an outstanding view of the Hudson River. A meal that you won’t soon forget.

We will tour the Vanderbilt Mansion in terms of architecture, interiors, mechanical systems, road systems and landscape, is a remarkably complete example of a gilded-age country place, illustrating the political, economic, social, cultural, and demographic changes that occurred as America industrialized in the years after the Civil War. It was the setting for grand parties, balls, and dinners for New York’s social elite.
 

Lunch today will be at the Culinary Institute of America. What a unique experience. Founded in 1946 the campus in Hyde Park now boasts over 2000 students. This wonderful meal will be served by students during their externship.

Tonight’s lodging Owego New York. Located below the Finger Lakes region. This is a beautiful drive taking us through the Catskill Mountains and park. Have your cameras ready.

YOUR ITINERARY AT A GLANCE:
After your two day pre-stay on Oahu, you will begin your cruise on  the beautiful “Pride of America” this American themed ship is very patriotic.
Free style dining allows you to remain casual at all times with the option of dressing up for that special evening.
Maui will be your first port of call for two wonderful days.
The big Island will share it’s vast beauty with two different ports of call: Hilo and Kona.
Now off to Kauai for two days to explore this lush garden isle.
Returning to Oahu for a North Shore tour before arriving at the airport for your afternoon flight home.

1-Travel, afternoon arrival to Honolulu-Oahu
2-Honolulu-Oahu. Included is a full day of Polynesian delight at the Polynesian Cultural Center ending with the ever popular Alii Luau for a wonderful dinner.
3-Honolulu-Oahu. Today experience history first hand with a visit to Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial and then a guided tour of Honolulu. Included.
4-Kahului-Maui
